Welcome & Season Kick-Off

We’re so excited that your student and family is considering joining and partnering with the Silent Messengers ministry!

Our season kick-off is held in October!

Practices

We will have practices on Sundays in the late afternoon/early evening at First Reformed Church in Baldwin, WI from October-November for the Christmas season and January-March for the Easter season. You can choose to participate in one or both seasons. Practices are about two hours but may go longer for the last few practices depending on how everything is going and if everyone feels ready for the first performance. Once performances start, we do not have any further practices during the performance season.

Performances

Over the four to five Sundays before both Christmas and Easter, we travel to various churches for performances. We also have one Wednesday evening performance for each season at First Reformed Church in Baldwin, WI.

Times and locations for the performances will be provided at the beginning of each season. We often have early mornings to provide time for travel, set up, and makeup. We like to arrive at each church two to three hours prior to the performance time for set up, run-through, and makeup. The performances are about one hour long and the take down afterwards is about one hour as well.

Roles

We do not have auditions for parts. However, we do consider leadership and maturity when choosing roles. We are a ministry where the students are prayerfully guided and prepared to lead worship through music and action, and with that comes a high responsibility.

For students newer to the ministry, they will often start with smaller and more group-related roles. As students get older and more comfortable, they will transition into bigger roles based on students interests in the roles and if we feel they are ready for them based on responsibility and leadership.

We also often have opportunities for students to be involved in behind-the-scene roles including lights, sound, prop management, and scene change support.

Permission/Liability & Family Involvement

We do have a permission slip/contract form and liability waiver that both the student and parents will need to sign and agree upon. We also follow and hold the students to the Baldwin-Woodville athletic code guidelines. Those forms will be sent home the first evening of practice, and need to be returned the following week.

We welcome family involvement and support! We highly rely on parent volunteers for driving to performances, helping behind the scenes with setup and take down before and after performances, and providing snacks or meals when needed. Please reach out if you are available to help in any way! We are truly grateful for your support!
